One thing this year has taught me is to appreciate all the beauty that lies on our doorstep. As our travel plans have changed, many of us have opted for a local staycation as an escape.

Recently, I had a mini staycation at The Gardens at Mayan Estate, Rothiemay.

Their self-catering accommodation packages are an absolute treat! A stay in the beautiful Pavilion, set within spectacular country gardens, is the perfect backdrop for a luxurious weekend getaway.

About the Mayan Estate

The Estate is made up of over 700 acres of grounds, so there is plenty to explore during your stay. The grounds are home to plenty of local wildlife, including deer, squirrels, pheasants and hares, among many others!

I took plenty of time to explore the grounds, which looked all the more special thanks to the beautiful autumnal colours we’re so lucky to see around this time of year.

Planning a trip to The Gardens at Mayan Estate?

During Your Stay

Need some help planning your itinerary during your stay? There are lots of fun activities you can do and they have a free concierge service to help you plan.

If you’re looking to make the most of your time on the estate, why not opt for an afternoon picnic in the meadow? Or a relaxing day fishing on the River Deveron? These are only a couple of examples of the kinds of things on offer.

Here’s an image of the beautiful gazebo – doesn’t this look like the perfect place to spend an afternoon?

When it comes to food, you’ve got plenty of choice.

The accommodation is self-catering but if you know me, I don’t like to cook at home, let alone on holiday! So I organised food from Hudsons Catering, whom I absolutely love. We picked up their food en-route from their headquarters at Blackburn, and I wasn’t disappointed. From the incredible grazing platter to the delicious 3-course meal (complete with a trio of desserts!) everything was perfect.

I absolutely loved my stay at The Gardens at Mayen. It truly felt like an escape, and I felt so fortunate to have discovered this hidden countryside gem.

Let me know in the comments if you have been there too or are planning a trip there soon.
