Here at Kingshill Studios, we believe that there is never a bad time to have a family photography session.

Many of our clients have portraits taken each year to document their growing families. Others choose to invest in family photography in order to mark a special occasion such as an anniversary, a landmark birthday or a family reunion.

When you choose to have photos taken is a very personal decision. But once you know you’d like to arrange some updated family portraits, when should you book?

When should you book your family photography session?

The answer to that is simple – book as early as possible! We absolutely hate having to turn people away.

We are incredibly grateful that many of our clients return to us year after year, and we are always welcoming new families too. Because of this, we do get booked up quite far in advance and so availability is usually very limited.

Family photography sessions in Aberdeenshire

Our family photography sessions here in Aberdeen are available all year round, so you might think that availability would not be a problem.

However, as I write this it’s June, and we are already completely booked out for the summer and Autumn is also looking busy! In fact, we only have a few available slots left in November – this is the earliest that we could now fit you and your family in!

This may surprise you. We do get lots of enquiries from families wishing to book in for a photoshoot only to be shocked when we tell them how far in advance we are booked out.

But, yes, we are a very busy photography studio but there are only so many days in the year and there is only one of me!

If you are confident that you would like to be photographed by us, then do not hesitate to get in touch. We’ll then arrange for you to attend a design consultation, which is a chance for us to meet and to discuss exactly what you want from your photography experience.

Our advice to you would be to always pre-plan as far ahead and possible and give us a call to secure your slot in our diary, even if the date you’ve selected for your photoshoot needs to move at a later stage. It’s better to be in the diary than miss out completely!

Indoor and outdoor family photos in Aberdeen

One of the reasons why we believe that our family portrait sessions are so popular is that we are unique in having both a cosy photography studio AND a spacious outdoor studio. In fact, we have five acres of beautiful Scottish countryside right outside our back door!

This means that we can offer you the option of both indoor and outdoor portraits. If the weather is being kind, we can get a wide variety of family photographs for you all in one short and fun-filled session.

There’s also the option to bring along your furry friend if you have one. We know very well that a dog is as much a part of the family as a child is!

A no-cheese guarantee!

There is nothing awkward about a family photoshoot with us! Your family portrait gallery will include photographs of you naturally interreacting with each other (and the dog, if you bring one along), as well as more posed photos where I get you all to look at the camera.

Don’t worry! We work hard to ensure that all members of your family, whatever their age, are totally comfortable and at ease throughout your family session.

We know that young children get bored quickly and we are very experienced in photographing children of all ages so know what it takes to keep them engaged.

A final tip – Bring a change of outfits to your family photoshoot!

Yes, feel free to bring along three changes of clothes; two formal and one casual.

That way, we can create a range of beautiful portraits for your family gallery and it won’t look like you always wore the same thing all the time!
