When you’re choosing a professional photographer to hire, it’s likely that you will want to know something about the photographers you are considering. So, with this in mind, I thought I’d share something different in today’s article…
I’ll be giving you an insight into local causes and charities I care deeply about at Kingshill Studios.
You can also read more about me and about how I became a family photographer after working originally in education, as a headteacher at an Aberdeenshire school.
I am proud to support the local community of Aberdeen
As a local business owner and as a Burgess of the City of Aberdeen now too, I love feeling part of the local community in Aberdeen.
Supporting the local community is my way of giving back. So many of you support me, by choosing me as your family photographer, and for that I am incredibly grateful.
As you may know, my day-to-day work here at Kingshill Studios involves me meeting so many lovely parents and their children. I consider it a great honour to have the chance to meet local families and to help capture precious family moments in beautiful photographs.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to be able to use my photography skills to help various local causes and have been able to provide complimentary photography services to local charities.
For example, for several years running, I volunteered as a photographer for the Friends of Anchor’s incredible ‘Courage on the Catwalk’ event.
Friends of Anchor is a fantastic local charity that supports and serves cancer patients throughout the northeast of Scotland. Read more about why I choose to support this worthy charity here.
I’ve also supported the Westdyke Community Club by taking team photographs and covering their prizegiving events. My eldest boy played for Westdyke for many years, and I’m very grateful for the support and encouragement he was given.
My ‘Capow’ superhero photoshoots have benefited a number of local causes over the years including the Duchenne UK charity, which supports local people living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
The most recent charitable Superhero sessions took place in September and, as always, it was lovely to see the smiles on the faces of the children who took part.
These real-life superheroes have a variety of health conditions that make life incredibly challenging and sometimes their lives will be cut short because of cruel disease. My heart goes out to them and their families.
These causes, which are close to my heart, of course, can benefit from the oxygen of publicity. So, it’s brilliant when I’m sometimes able to help raise awareness through the generation of local press articles.
Visit my In the Press page to view a selection of press features including this one in the Evening Express which was a double-page article sharing details of the Capow superhero portrait sessions that raised funds for the Duchenne UK charity.
Thank you for your continued support
I consider it an honour and a pleasure to be part of the local community in Aberdeen.
