I’ll let you into a secret. At the end of this week, I’m going to be fifty!

So, because it’s my BIG birthday month, and I’m in a reflective mood, I thought that I’d create a blog celebrating 50 portraits from 2021.

The following 50 portraits are a mixture of portrait genres. They were all created and captured here at Kingshill Studios, in Aberdeen.

You’ll find everything from maternity portraits, newborn baby portraits, milestone portraits for baby’s up to 1 year old, and outdoor family portraits. This is the work I love to do!

As 2021 draws to a close, and I’m facing the start of my 51st year on the planet, I’m so grateful to be able to spend my days doing what I love so passionately!

I help local families, as well as those who travel from further afield across Northeast Scotland. I capture special moments for them in professional photographs. It’s both an honour and a privilege!

While I’ve taken many, many more portraits than this, these highlights from the past year hopefully give you a flavour of my work and photography style. They also show you the variety of portraits I can create.

These are among my favourite portraits from this year and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.

Maternity photography

Your pregnancy is an incredibly special time, and one that many women choose to preserve in beautiful maternity portraits.

Our popular outdoor pregnancy photoshoots take place in our comfortable, private studio here at Kingswells, Aberdeen. Arranged for some time in your final trimester – usually between months seven and eight of pregnancy – they are dedicated to making you look and feel incredible.

Rich Newborn photography  

Our  ‘RICH’ newborn photography service incorporates unashamedly beautiful colours, as well as props and backdrops in a variety of soothing hues. 

Your newborn baby will be carefully posed in the popular ‘sleeping baby’ style, and a RICH portfolio of newborn images will feature flattering coloured backdrops, wraps and props to offset your baby’s delicate skin.

Pure Newborn photography  

‘Pure’ newborn photography is a style that is contemporary, clean and fresh. 

PURE newborn portraits are predominantly all-white and are created here using soft, flattering light.

The resulting images will capture your baby’s unique portrait against a whiter-than-white backdrop, keeping the focus 100% on them and their tiny features and pristine, soft skin.

Baby Milestone photography

Our PURE Milestone Portraits are the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy a professional portrait experience and to come away with super-cute, simply styled portraits that celebrate them hitting those early milestones.

Whether they have just mastered sitting up by themselves or are now confidently toddling around the room, hooray! They have come a long way in such a short space of time, so let’s celebrate them in photographs!

Here at Kingshill Studios, we believe that having portraits taken of your family is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself, your children and your future generations.
