Baby and child portrait sessions at Kingshill Studios
If you’ve never booked a child or family photographer before, you may be unsure about what to expect and not know that there are many options depending on which photographer you choose.
Don’t worry though! We’ve got you covered!
In this article, we’ll explain what baby photo shoots are available at Kingshill Studios and tell you where you can find out more.
1) Newborn baby photoshoots
If you’re pregnant and expecting your baby to be born in the next few months, then now’s a great time to be planning your baby’s first ever photoshoot!

While newborn photography is typically done within the first few weeks of a baby’s life, it’s certainly possible for us to capture your baby if they’re older than this.
For reasons beyond your control, there can be occasions when you may be unable to get to the photography studio with your baby before they are several weeks or even a month or so old.
If this is the case for you, please note that we may not be able to capture as many ‘sleeping baby’ style portraits if your baby is a little older, as they will likely be awake much more. The awake shots are just as lovely though so there’s no problem there!
Please note that newborn baby photoshoots are often booked up well in advance. We advise to schedule yours in once you’ve had your 20-week scan and know your expected due date.

2) Older baby photoshoots
Once your little one is out of the newborn stage, things really start to get exciting! Within a few months, you’ll have a baby who is growing up fast and whose personality really begins to shine through!
Our older baby photoshoots are called Milestone portrait sessions, and these are ideal for children aged from around three months old.
We recommend that you book in for at least one Milestone session if you want to capture the amazing developmental changes that your baby will go through in their first twelve months.
You’ve the option to come once or as many times as you like during that first year. Some parents choose a ‘Sitter session’ which is done when your baby is sitting up independently, usually at around 6-8 months of age.
Others know that they want to come more often and book multiple baby milestone sessions so that they have the full story of their baby’s development captured in professional photographs.
At the age of 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, your baby is very different to how they were just a few months prior, so these can be ideal stages to return to our photography studio if you love this idea!

3) First Birthday portrait sessions
Once your baby reaches the ripe old age of one, why not book in for a first birthday photoshoot to celebrate?
Together, you’ve experienced so much over the past 12 months and you’re naturally feeling so proud of them as they are growing cleverer and ever cuter each day!
Their first birthday is the perfect occasion for professional photos, and you can use these to decorate their nursery, mount on the walls at home, collate into a beautiful keepsake album as well as share with family and friends.
A cake smash option is available but is not compulsory.

Which baby photoshoot will you choose?
The baby photoshoot you choose will largely depend on the age of your baby, and as we’ve mentioned, we have something for children of all ages, whether it be a newborn shoot, an older baby milestone session or a first birthday cake smash.
